(RACE RACE Ferrari N.V. 123.37 +4.55% ) slid about 10% Wednesday after its new CEO, Louis Camilleri, referred to its 2022 financial goals as “aspirational” in his first time presenting earnings for the company. The Italian luxury sportscar maker said in February that it planned to double its core earnings to 2 billion euros ($2.3 billion). During a second-quarter earnings call, an analyst asked Camilleri how he would deliver on its targets, and he said he would provide details at a company event on Sept. 17 and 18. Camilleri said the company’s 2022 targets were “aspirational” targets. He said he would detail the company’s risks and opportunities next month. Camilleri replaced former CEO Sergio Marchionne on July 21 after Marchionne fell ill and later passed away on July 25. The former CEO, who was expected to say through 2021, had taken Ferrari public in 2015 and roughly tripled its value. Marchionne was also credited with his turnaround of Fiat Chrysler, which spun off Ferrari under his leadership. Second-Quarter Earnings Camilleri was previously CEO and former chairman of Philip Morris International and is a Ferrari board member. Ferrari reported second-quarter adjusted profit increased 17% year over year to 84 euro cents. Ferrari’s revenue slid 1.6% to 906 million euros, but the company said that without currency fluctuations, sales increased 1.4%. Ferrari stock is up about 9% in the past year.
